White Castle. "The Perfect Food"?

In the words of Harold and Kumar, "We need the perfect food!" I couldn't agree more!
Last night as I finished the tail end of my 3rd shift from hell at work, I had an epiphany that I was going to stop at White Castle on the way home. I was so excited I was almost shaking! It had been years since I had indulged in that mouth watering piece of heaven and I just couldn't get there fast enough. All I could think was sliders, sliders, sliders.
As I drove down Rt. 53 it had occurred to me that it was over 3 years since I had gone to the "Redneck Riviera" of burger joints. They stay open all night and their prices can't be beat! What more can one ask for in a late night snacking experience, right? So why haven't I eaten there in so long? I couldn't remember. I just chocked it up to location. One just opened within the last few months about 5 minutes from my house, but before that, I didn't even know where to look for one.
So, I get my sack o' sliders and dig in. It was just as good as I had expected. Every bite was better than the last one. That is, until I took the last bite. Then I was sad. Giving no more thought to the experience, I put my weary but satisfied body to bed in hopes that a few good hours of sleep would come my way and the stress of the last 3 nights would quickly dissipate. No such luck.
The baby had me up at 4, then my belly at 5! Oh, Jesus. What the hell did I do???? Now I remember clearly and vividly why it had been years since my last visit!
I felt like my stomach was going 40 different directions, my head was pounding and I couldn't complete a thought. I felt like I was drugged, but not in a good way. Could this be my body protesting the "perfect food"? I do believe it was. How incredibly disappointing! If someone would just invent the slider that has no negative side affects... Or at least a warning label like they put on all of these new drugs that cause things cancer and tuberculosis! They are meant to improve your quality of life, but kill you in the process!
Then, by the grace of God, it would indeed be the perfect food!
That's my little tidbit on a little tidbit! Til next time.... Stick to McDonald's!

Hey Lady! It's a uterus, not a clown car!

For the last couple of weeks there has been all this talk and hubub about the amazing and crazy, "OCTOMOM", Nadya Suleman! What the hell???? That was my first reaction when I hear the story about her eight, count 'em, eight "miracles". Miracles they are not. All children are precious, but there is no reason for someone to give birth to eight of them at once. Nor is there any reason for that doctor to implant that many embryos. It's against all the rules of nature and medical ethics. God only gave women two breasts for a reason. This whole circus/freakshow is just an abomination!

Lets really think about this...

She has no job. She has no man. She lives with her mother (who keeps bashing her on national television because she's insane), and now she has fourteen, count 'em, fourteen children. What in the world does this nut bag think she is doing? I mean, really!!!!!! What a stupid and selfish woman! Does she not realize the repercussions of these actions???? How can she possibly care for all of those children with no job! Having a lonely childhood is no excuse! All kids have it rough when they are kids. The difference is that most kids grow up and out of it and live normal lives!

I know how. She's begging the rest of us for money so that we can support her unnecessary and outrageous behavior. I have my own child to support and it costs A LOT! My husband and I both work and still barely have enough every month! They say 1 child will cost their parents over $1million in 18 years. So, does this mean that they will have to add $14 million dollars to the economic bailout amount? Does she rank up there with the corporate financial institutions?? Do we have to pay that money that we WORKED hard to make and paid taxes on so she can be a "Kid Collector" and live on welfare? I mean I've heard of people doing it with cats and dogs, but this is the first time I've heard of a human collecting humans, and that IS exactly what she's doing. Collecting children. It's like she is obsessed with having babies.

I truly believe that this woman has major psychological issues that need to be addressed immediately. And frankly, I think her children should be taken from her and put with people who will care and actually do what's best for each child individually. She has given no thought to what her actions will ultimately do to her other six children. They will just be lost in the shuffle. How heartbreaking and sad.

By the way... Rosie, Oprah, Ellen and any other talk show host that decides to buy her everything she will need for the babies and pay her for appearances on your shows, DON'T DO IT!!!! DO NOT bail this lunatic out. She made this insane bed and now she needs to lay in it!
She needs to make this the end of her child bearing career.

That's my little tidbit on that. Until next time...

As the World.... Eats?

Greetings and salutations to you... the readers! This is my first time blogging, so just bear with me. I hope to keep you thinking as well as entertained. Obviously, the things I write are just my thoughts and opinions and you don't have to agree with me. I just ask that you give my words thought and consideration without passing judgement.

So, as many of you know, I am in the Service Industry. I've been working in restaurants and bars for over 15 years now. It has become a part of who I am, however, recently it has become a double-edged-sword. A mighty sharp one at that!

I love what I do and the majority of the people I work with, but lately many customers have made it near impossible to survive. So many angry people who feel like they've been shafted or wronged in some way, seem to go to nice restaurants and treat their servers like they are less intelligent or lower class. They do it by speaking down to them or complaining unnecessarily to a manager in order to maybe get that free dessert or better yet, their whole check comped! Perhaps they do this to feel superior or to boost their already swollen but bruised egos.

Guess what? They look like fools. Mean, negative fools. And really, if you can't afford to pay for that lobster or steak you took yourself out to eat, then you probably shouldn't have gone out. Complaining about your server to get free food is really the lowest of the low. It just makes that server's job harder and it puts their employment at risk. We aren't just a dime a dozen like many would like to think and our jobs are just as important to us as anyone else's job is to them.

Don't get me wrong... This is not everybody. It may only be one guest, one night. That one person who is hellbent on making someone else feel just as bad as they do, even if it is just for a moment. That moment could ruin a server's entire night and affect their income significantly. So, please, I am not directing this at everyone in the world. The people who do this know who they are and I hope this makes them think a little bit.

As our economy struggles we see a whirlwind of change around us. It is terrifying to see so many people out of work, losing their homes and watching their families slowly disintegrating. Everything, they have worked so hard to achieve seems to be slipping through their fingers and they can't see a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Yet, as difficult as it is for most people these days, they all still need to have a sense of "everything is fine". So they take themselves out for a nice dinner, even though, again, they probably can't afford it.

Going out for dinner is more than just getting a few plates of food that someone else cooks. There are many factors that I really think people need to consider a little bit more carefully. The fact is that there is someone else buying the food, someone else is cooking that food, someone else is bringing you that food in a timely fashion, someone else is pouring your drinks, and then someone is cleaning up after you. All you have to do is sit there and enjoy. To me, being able to relax to that extent is priceless, yet so many people take it for granted.

So, I would like to remind you, if you are going to go out for dinner, whether it is fine dining or your local pizzeria, you are receiving a service. You are literally being cared for by an entire staff of people. All of these people rely on your business for their livelihoods. We are not just there to be there and we do not look at our jobs as arbitrary.

We are also human and the occasional mistake can be made by even the strongest of servers. We all make mistakes at one time or another at our places of employment. You wouldn't want to be abused where you work for making a mistake, so don't do that to a server. Be nice to your servers, tip them well. We try to pay our bills with tips. The customer is truly in control of a server's annual income. A server will be so much more inclined to give you the best service possible if you are nice to them. If you are rude and mean, they will still do their job, and even do it well, but with much less enthusiasm. Being rude to your server just makes everyone involved uncomfortable and no one enjoys themselves.

So, that for now is my little tidbit on that.... Until next time....
